The Cartography and Imaging Sciences Node (or just "Imaging" node) is one of many nodes that comprise the Planetary Data System (PDS). Imaging node brings together PDS expertise from two scientific data centers, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA and the USGS in Flagstaff, AZ.
We are the curator of NASA's primary digital image collections from past, present and future planetary missions. Imaging node provides to the NASA planetary science community the digital image archives, ancillary data, sophisticated data search and retrieval tools, and cartographic and technical expertise necessary to develop and fully utilize the vast collection of digital planetary images of many terrestrial planetary bodies, including icy satellites.
Imaging node science expertise includes orbital and landed camera instrument development and data processing, data engineering and informatics, planetary remote sensing at various wavelengths, and cartographic and geospatial data analysis and product development.

The LROC data team is a group of scientists, engineers, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers who share a passion for lunar science and for releasing high-quality data to the PDS. Primarily located on the ASU Tempe campus, they hail from various backgrounds, including planetary science, geography, astronomy, engineering, business, data informatics, and more.
Using this diverse expertise, members of the team fulfill many roles in the data collection, product generation, and archival process. Some team members create derived data products, including high-resolution regional digital terrain models and controlled mosaics. Others work to derive new data products from the Wide Angle Camera or to refine existing products. Other team members are dedicated to providing the infrastructure, including databases, processing machines, websites, and software, necessary to handle the high volume of data that LROC acquires and releases. Together this team generates and maintains the LROC PDS dataset, which grows at a rate of 85 TiB per year.
