Atlas Release Notes

Version 4.3

  • File previews in Archive Explorer
        - The same file-type icons appear in the Archive Explorer, and its Preview panel plays audio and video.

  • Start Time and Flight Day filters
        - Start Time is now a default filter and accepts a date and time (UTC). A Flight Day filter is also available by default.

  • Search error fixes
        - Sorting by File Name and running Advanced Filters queries no longer show a Search Error.

  • Open in Archive Explorer
        - Jump from a search result, record or cart item straight to its location in the Archive Explorer.

  • Quick Links menu
        - A new Quick Links menu in the top bar lets you copy or open the current page, record, archive path or API query in one click.

  • Right-click menus and new tabs
        - Right-click any result card or Archive Explorer row to copy links or add it to your cart. Middle-click or Ctrl-click opens a record in a new tab.

  • Preview more file types
        - Tables, text, PDFs, video and audio products can be previewed directly on the record page, with file-type thumbnails in search and the cart.

  • Faster back-and-forth searching
        - Returning to a search you already ran is instant, and your Grid, List, Table or Map view is kept when you come back from a record.

  • Most novel images first
        - Search results are sorted by machine-learning novelty by default so unusual images surface first. Sort options also have friendlier names. Available on select missions now; more later.

  • Redesigned record pages
        - Record pages have a new Overview with an at-a-glance summary, a timeline, file cards and links to instrument documentation.

  • Filename breakdowns
        - Record pages explain each part of a product's filename for 18 missions, including MSL, Cassini, LRO and Firefly Blue Ghost SCALPSS.

  • Simpler search layout
        - The left icon rail is gone: filters live in a sidebar, the map is a results view you can split alongside the others, and phones get a bottom navigation bar.

  • Snappier Archive Explorer
        - The Archive Explorer stays responsive for missions with thousands of volumes, and short result lists no longer leave a spinner running.

  • Cancelling downloads
        - Cancelling a download now stops it immediately.

  • Machine-learning filters
        - Filter by machine-learning classification and confidence, and pick filters by friendly name in the Add Filter window.
