END_OBJECT = TEXT END DESCRIPTION OF DATA FILES IN THIS DIRECTORY ------------------------------------------- This file describes the data files found in this directory or its subdirectories. This volume follows the directory structure laid out in the original Voyager imaging volumes VG_00xx. Each data directory is named for the nominal target of the images contained therein. However, note that many images contain multiple targets and in a few cases targets are misidentified. Nevertheless, this volume duplicates the earlier organization, so that a raw image file in directory VG_00xx/target/ always has its processed versions in the directory VGISS_00xx/target/. Here 'xx' is replaced by the volume number. A target directory can have one of two possible organizations. If the number of images is modest, then they are all found within the directory. If the number is large, then the target directory contains subdirectories with names of the form CmmmmXXX, where 'mmmm' is replaced by the first four digits of the FDS count. Within each subdirectory are found all the images whose FDS count begins with those four digits. This organization was chosen so that no directory would contain a excessive number of files. The CALIB and OTHER directories, if present, can have an alternative form in which a subdirectory name further identifies the target. For example, CALIB/DARK/ typically contains dark current images and OTHER/SKY/ contains sky images. A FOUND directory is sometimes used for images recovered late in the process of archiving the raw images on the original PDS volumes. The data files are named as follows. Cnnnnnnn_RAW.IMG Raw, uncompressed image in VICAR format. Cnnnnnnn_RAW.LBL Detached PDS label for the above. Cnnnnnnn_RESLOC.DAT Binary table of reseau locations in VICAR format. Cnnnnnnn_RESLOC.TAB ASCII table of reseau locations. Cnnnnnnn_RESLOC.LBL Combined-detached PDS label for both of the above. Cnnnnnnn_GEOMA.DAT Binary table of tiepoints for the geometric correction of the image, in VICAR format. Cnnnnnnn_GEOMA.TAB ASCII table of tiepoints. Cnnnnnnn_GEOMA.LBL Combined-detached PDS label for both of the above. Cnnnnnnn_CLEANED.IMG Cleaned version of the image in VICAR format. Cnnnnnnn_CLEANED.LBL Detached PDS label for the above. Cnnnnnnn_CALIB.IMG Calibrated version of the image in VICAR format. Cnnnnnnn_CALIB.LBL Detached PDS label for the above. Cnnnnnnn_GEOMED.IMG Geometrically corrected version of the calibrated image, in VICAR format. Cnnnnnnn_GEOMED.LBL Detached PDS label for the above. In every case above, 'nnnnnnn' is replaced by the seven-digit FDS count. For more information about the processing history behind these files, see DOCUMENTS/PROCESSING.TXT.
