PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM SPACECRAFT_NAME = "MARS GLOBAL SURVEYOR" TARGET_NAME = "MARS" OBJECT = TEXT INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = ASCII PUBLICATION_DATE = 2000-04-01 NOTE = "errata for MOC SDP volumes" END_OBJECT = TEXT END MGSC_1064: Ancillary data for narrow angle image M0803208 were calculated without SPICE C-kernel information because C-kernel data were unavailable for part of the image; the lack of this data caused erroneous ancillary data to be computed. MGS was assumed to be nadir-pointed for image M0803208. MGSC_1057 and MGSC_1058: The MOC narrow angle and wide angle focal plane temperature sensors erroneously reported constant values of 268.9 and 243.0, respectively, for images from M0705439 to M0706057. The focal plane temperatures listed for these images on MGSC_1057 and MGSC_1058 were calculated from spacecraft engineering temperature data for that time period. The majority of these estimates are judged to be correct to +/- 1 and 2 degrees for the narrow angle and wide angle, respectively; a few estimates could be as much as 3 degrees off. MGSC_1048: The discontinuity in image numbering from M0403839 to M0449182 and likewise from M0449232 to M0403861, is due to the MOC's internal sequencing software acquiring images autonomously following an uplink command failure. Such images are assigned an ID larger than 49152 to distinguish them from explicitly commanded images. MGSC_0008: The cumindx.tab entry for image SP243306 on MGSC_0008 is incorrect. The parameters in that entry actually correspond to image SP244306; a corrected version is included on MGSC_0010. The first cumindx.tab entry for image SP245503 on MGSC_0008 is incorrect. The parameters in that entry actually correspond to image SP244503; a corrected version is included on MGSC_0010. General: As a point of clarification, if an image is to be flipped left-right because its USAGE_NOTE has a value of 'F', it may still have to be rotated into a north-up orientation as indicated by the NORTH_AZIMUTH parameter. That is, a roughly north-up orientation may still require a rotation of 180 degrees after flipping. The MOC team has identified that the data for the following images were of better quality in the realtime operations data retrievals than were recorded on the Level 0 Science and Engineering CD-ROMs: FHA00908.IMQ M0000134.IMQ M0000165.IMQ M0000503.IMQ M0000817.IMQ M0001369.IMQ M0001612.IMQ M0001691.IMQ M0001715.IMQ M0001737.IMQ M0001864.IMQ M0002049.IMQ M0002357.IMQ M0002488.IMQ M0002489.IMQ M0002492.IMQ M0101866.IMQ M0103043.IMQ M0202137.IMQ M0303659.IMQ M0304020.IMQ M0304184.IMQ M0304618.IMQ M0304622.IMQ M0305849.IMQ M0306075.IMQ M0400281.IMQ M0400824.IMQ M0400958.IMQ M0401313.IMQ M0401975.IMQ M0402242.IMQ M0402807.IMQ M0700819.IMQ M0701411.IMQ M0706090.IMQ M0803444.IMQ M0803981.IMQ M0804078.IMQ M0804192.IMQ M0804223.IMQ M0804319.IMQ M0804387.IMQ M0804452.IMQ M0805126.IMQ M0805127.IMQ M0805128.IMQ M0805129.IMQ M0805350.IMQ M0806411.IMQ M0806516.IMQ M0808073.IMQ M0901048.IMQ M0901534.IMQ M0901650.IMQ M0902716.IMQ M0902971.IMQ M0903556.IMQ M0904231.IMQ M0904975.IMQ M0905715.IMQ M1000237.IMQ M1000405.IMQ M1000849.IMQ M1001377.IMQ M1001710.IMQ M1002289.IMQ M1002309.IMQ M1002317.IMQ M1002830.IMQ M1003164.IMQ M1003482.IMQ M1003592.IMQ M1100144.IMQ M1100147.IMQ M1101325.IMQ M1101961.IMQ M1102275.IMQ M1102360.IMQ M1104298.IMQ M1104327.IMQ M1200090.IMQ M1201787.IMQ M1202303.IMQ M1202329.IMQ M1202618.IMQ M1202696.IMQ The MOC team has identified that the data for the following images were retrieved from the JPL server during real time operations, but were not included in the Level 0 Science and Engineering CD-ROMs and are no longer retrievable at JPL. The MOC was used as a data relay source only and the MR data are therefore not archived with the MOC data on this volume, but rather will be published as seperate data set. We are planning to fix this as soon as possible, and the update will be available on the website specified in readmoc.txt. If the user has access to SunOS/Solaris, it is recommended that readmoc be run on that platform in the meantime, as the sunos readmoc version does not appear to exhibit this problem. Regarding numbering of planning periods (see aareadme.txt): Starting on 01 September 1999, the planning periods were defined to start on the first of each month (specifically at the first descending equator crossing occuring after 0 GMT on the first of each month). Simultaneously, the numbering scheme was synchronized such that September 1999, the seventh month of MGS Mapping, was named M07. Subsequent months are named M08, M09, etc. Therefore, the denominations of M05 and M06 were not used. The MGS/MOC team has made every effort to comply with PDS standards known to us at the time the volume was generated, but for some parts of the MOC volume as presented here either no standard was available or ambiguities existed. Producers of future PDS volumes should consult the latest available PDS Standard for generation of their own volumes. In particular, at the time of the creation of the MOC products, PDS standards for labeling software packages had not been defined, so the software directory tree contains no labeling information.
