This document also describes standard processing methods developed particularly for handling Galileo Phase 2 data. Also included are newly identified errors or discrepancies on previous volumes of the Galileo Solid State Imaging Raw EDR CD-ROMs. Information relating to limitations, errors and discrepancies in the entire data set is included in the Limitations section of the DATASET.CAT file in the CATALOG directory. Contents of the file include: general information, VICAR Labels, PDS Labels, Index Table and Cumulative Index Tables. Also included is information on processing. This mainly for the user's information. Due to a problem with the flight software, the exposure values in the images were being returned low by 4-1/6 milliseconds except for exposure numbers 1, 2, and 4. Software was modified to adjust image exposure values in the VICAR and binary labels to reflect actual exposure times. HIS images had a line shift of 1 line on the 2nd and 4th frame cycles and during extended exposures and OCM images. Software was modified to position the lines correctly. When HIS images had a cut out window (COW), the SCLK in the binary line prefix was incorrect. Multiple playback of images with different compression factors are not merged together. Instead a different version of the image is created, and each subsequent filename reflects an sclk incremented by 1. Smear and smear magnitude do not have valid values because the angular velocity is not available in the actual CK. Local Hour Angle keyword is not valid for ring images. Light Flood values are based on the predicted values received in the SNIP. It should be noted that the light flood for OCMs are "ON" for the 1st shutter event and "OFF" for all the others. The EXPOSURE_NUMBER field in the binary telemetry header was based on telemetry (housekeeping) values, which were sometimes erroneous. The VICAR label has been updated with the correct (predicted) values, and the affected images are identified in this file. "Tape dings" are data outages which occur when image data is recorded on a bad area of the tape onboard the spacecraft. Images affected by tape dings have been identified in this file. Each of the C9 star calibration observations was unmosaicked into two frames (a top and a bottom) even though more shutter events occured in the OCM. The SUB_SPACECRAFT_LINE and SUB_SPACECRAFT_LINE_SAMPLE in the PDS label and index file were calculated in image space for orbits G1 through C9. Starting with orbit C10, these two fields were calculated in object space. The TARGET field in the IMGINDEX.TAB is limited to 10 characters, so in cases where the target name is too long, the string is truncated. For example, "NON_SCIENC" will appear for NON_SCIENCE calibration targets on all volumes. The imgindex.lbl and cumindex.lbl files had an incorrect FORMAT for OBJECT NAME FILE_SPECIFICATION_NAME on volumes GO_0017 and GO_0018. The format specified A33 and should have been A43. LABEL/RTLMTAB.FMT file contained object information that was repeated in the PDS label file on GO_0017 and GO_0018. The following object information has been removed from the RTLMTAB.FMT file. OBJECT = TELEMETRY_TABLE INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = BINARY ROWS = 1 COLUMNS = 85 ROW_BYTES = 1800 END_OBJECT The required keyword PUBLICATION_DATE was missing from DOCUMENT/BADDATA.TXT, DOCUMENT/PDSLABEL.TXT, DOCUMENT/VICAR2.TXT on GO_0017 and GO_0018. This keyword has been added to these files. The files LABEL/RLINEPRX.FMT and LABEL/RTLMTAB.FMT were missing the END statement on GO_0017 and GO_0018. The files INDEX/CUMINDEX.LBL and INDEX/IMGINDEX.LBL were missing the keyword INDEX_TYPE in the IMAGE_INDEX_TABLE object on GO_0017 and GO_0018. The files INDEX/CUMINDEX.TAB and INDEX/IMGINDEX.TAB on volume GO_0018 reflect inaccurate locations of REDO files from C3. The INDEX/CUMINDEX.TAB from volume GO_0019 should be used to identify the location of the best version of each file. Due to a PDS 60 character limitation, the data set name "GALILEO ORBITAL OPERATIONS SOLID STATE IMAGING 2 RAW EDR V1" is truncated when the data set is ingested by PDS. The TARGET_NAME value for calibration image data in the PDS label and index files should be "NON SCIENCE" instead of "NON_SCIENCE".
