PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM SPACECRAFT_NAME = "CLEMENTINE 1" TARGET_NAME = "MOON" OBJECT = TEXT INTERCHANGE_FORMAT = ASCII PUBLICATION_DATE = 2007-05-01 NOTE = "Description of contents in the BROWSE subdirectory." END_OBJECT = TEXT END Content description of the BROWSE Subdirectory The 'browse' directory tree contains browse images for each Clementine DIM product on this CD. Also present are HTML documents allowing access to the browse image collection via the use of web browser applications. The HTML documents in this directory are: brcolor.htm - provides a graphical-based interface to the enhanced color browse image collection. brratio.htm - provides a graphical-based interface to the color ratio browse image collection. brbw.htm - provides a graphical-based interface to the b/w (2000nm) browse image collection. locator.htm - Volume-quad locator map. Display CD volume and quadname information for NIR DIM CD set (Requires JavaScript enabled browser). These HTML documents can be directly opened with a web browser application or they can be accessed through the CD home page, named 'index.htm', located at the root directory level. The browse image collection consists of 'small', 'medium', and 'large' directories, each containing enhanced color, color ratio, and b/w (2000nm) images (JPEG format) for each Clementine NIR DIM product and related HTML documents. The enhanced color derivations are presented with the 1100nm, 1500nm, and 2000nm spectral data represented respectively as blue, green, and red channels of a 3-color digital image. The color ratio images are presented with the 1500nm/1100nm, 1500nm/2000nm, and 1500nm ratios represented respectively as blue, green, and red channels of a 3-color digital image. The b/w images were generated using the 2000nm wavelength band from each NIR image. The following image density 'stretch' parameters were used in producing the color and ratio browse images (fractional- reflectance units); (Note: Percent-reflectance units are otherwise commonly used. Fractional-percent is referenced here as these were the defined units within software used to process the NIR DIM.) Enhanced Color: 1100nm - blue - 0.093 , 0.403 1500nm - green - 0.106 , 0.499 2000nm - red - 0.129 , 0.578 Color Ratio: 1500nm/1100nm - blue - 1.020 , 1.335 1500nm/2000nm - green - 0.772 , 0.961 1500nm - red - 0.107 , 0.484 For the b/w (2000nm) images, a contrast stretch was applied such that one-half percent of the total pixels are saturated at the high and low ends of the density range. NOTE: The browse images discussed above are intended for qualitative interpretation only. In order to produce these images, contrast modifications and digital compression (JPEG) have been applied. Quantitative aspects of the original data are lost in the browse images.
