Central Chandor Chasm - Oblique Views ------------------------------------- Part of the Candor Chasm in Valles Marineris on Mars centered at Latitude -5.0, Longitude 70.0. High resolution black/white images were acquired on orbits 912, 914, 913, 915, and 917 of Viking 1. Color images, combined with the high resolution black/white images, were acquired on orbit 279 from Viking 2. Oblique views of Chandor Chasma are from the East (image names start with 'E'), North (names start with 'N'), South (names start with 'S'), and West (names start with 'W') The geomorphology is complex, shaped by tectonics, mass wasting, and wind, and perhaps by water and volcanism. Image Processing by Jody Swann/Tammy Becker/Alfred McEwen, using the PICS (Planetary Image Cartography System) image processing system developed at the U.S. Geological Survey in Flagstaff, Arizona.
