For various reasons, enumerated below, data thought to be 'corrupt' was
returned from the spacecraft and made into EDRs.  The NIMS team currently
believes that these EDRs contain no useful data, but in the interest of
completeness, and the possibility of future insights which might glean
something of value from them, they are included on this CD-ROM in the
CORRUPT directory tree.

Garbled EDRs:  G1 data between G1JNHOTMAP01 and the software halt after
G1INNSPEC_01 were returned in a 'garbled' form.  Eventually, an ungarbling
procedure was developed which, when applied to the data on the ground,
apparently recovered most of it.  However the original garbled data is
preserved here to document the problem, and to allow for the possibility of
other ungarbling procedures.  See SPECPROC.TXT in the [DOCUMENT] directory for
a more detailed discussion.  The ungarbled EDRs are in the normal data tree on
this CD-ROM. 

Software halt:  Several realtime and recorded requests were returned, though
the NIMS software had halted and had not yet been reloaded.  The resulting
EDRs are preserved here on the possibility that they may contain information
on the mechanism of the halts.

Bad detector tests:  After detector 8 apparently failed in C3, several short
1-wavelength samples from already-planned E4 observations were returned to
see if it had recovered.  It had not.  Similarly after the detector 3 failure
in E6.
